Green Transition: The Key to Long-Term Survival

Posted on 19 September, 2025

Not only supported by government policies and orientations, many major enterprises recently investing in Hue City have decided to make strong investments in green technology to stay ahead of the trend.

Located right next to Phu Bai Airport, Gilimex Hue Industrial Park is completing the final stages to put Zone B into operation, one of the two zones the investor is developing in Hue. With a total investment area of over 460 hectares, Gilimex Industrial Park is expected by local authorities to become a model of a green industrial park in Hue.

On the morning of September 19, within the framework of the Conference on Green Transformation and Industrial Investment Attraction Strategy in Hue City, Gilimex Hue Industrial Park was honored to welcome the delegation for a site visit.

Over 22% of the industrial park area dedicated to green space

In early September, Zone B of the Gilimex Hue Industrial Park project was bustling with workers and machinery. Mr. Phan Van Dinh, Deputy General Director of Gilimex Hue Industrial Park, said the unit is accelerating progress to welcome the first investors by the end of September.

With this “first-born project,” Mr. Dinh emphasized that from the very beginning Gilimex has been determined to build a model project, with green – smart – modern development as the goal.

In 2019, encouraged by the open and progressive leadership style of Hue authorities, Gilimex decided to invest in Phu Bai with the vision of developing a green industrial park from the outset.

According to Mr. Dinh, the company has spent a significant amount on green transformation for both infrastructure zones in Phu Bai.

All factory buildings use non-fired bricks, minimizing additives. Green spaces, internal environmental treatment systems, and the strict criteria for selecting tenant companies are all set at very high standards.

“The proportion of green space accounts for about 22% of the industrial park’s area, equivalent to around 65 hectares in reality — a very large number compared to the required 10%,” Mr. Dinh said, noting that this expansion of green space comes not only from the enterprise’s competitiveness needs but also from customer demand.

Many enterprises from Japan and the United States are willing to pay higher costs if the factory location is well-invested, has good infrastructure, and is environmentally friendly.

Green investment from the ground up

Contrary to the common image of industrial parks associated with black, foamy wastewater or thick smoke from chimneys, Mr. Dinh said Gilimex Hue is working to change that perception by building an eco-friendly industrial park — where residents can still farm and live normally right next to factory corridors.

“There will be ecological green spaces within the industrial park for residents, staff, and workers to walk or exercise after work. To ensure wastewater is clean enough to ‘raise fish,’ we select investors whose wastewater meets Column B standards before being treated at the central system. After treatment, the water is safe for raising fish and watering plants,” Mr. Dinh affirmed.

Hue attracts major green energy projects

Thanks to favorable policies for green economic investment, in recent years Hue has continuously welcomed major FDI enterprises with modern technologies and production lines. Among them is a series of projects worth billions of USD by Wealth Power Group (USA).

According to Wealth Power Vietnam JSC (based in Hue City), the company is carrying out several clean energy projects in Central Vietnam, such as the Chan May LNG gas-to-power project (Lang Co) and the zero-carbon high-tech industrial park in Phong Dien.

The Chan May LNG project will import gas from the United States and produce under a sustainable model with modern technology, expected to contribute VND 4,000 billion to the budget and create jobs for local residents.

Meanwhile, the zero-carbon high-tech industrial park in Phong Dien is invested with USD 45 million, using renewable energy for operations, with wastewater treatment meeting strict standards, aiming for net-zero emissions.
