Bac Ninh is located at the northern gateway of Hanoi, within the Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh economic growth triangle.

Over the past two decades since its re-establishment, Bac Ninh has transformed from a purely agricultural province into a fundamentally industrial one, moving toward modernization. Today, many of its socio-economic indicators rank among the highest nationwide.

The province is intersected by several key transportation routes that link it to major economic, commercial, and cultural centers in Northern Vietnam:

  • National Highway 1A runs through Hanoi – Bac Ninh – Lang Son – Huu Nghi Border Gate with China;
  • National Highway 17 connects Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, and Thai Nguyen;
  • National Highway 18 links Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) – Bac Ninh – Hai Duong – Quang Ninh;
  • National Highway 38 connects Bac Ninh with Hai Duong, Hung Yen, and Ha Nam;
  • The trans-Vietnam railway line runs through Bac Ninh toward Lang Son and onward to China.
