First flight from RoK to Phu Bai International Airport launched

A ceremony was held at Phu Bai International Airport on August 1 in order to welcome the first direct flight connecting Thua Thien – Hue with Seoul of the Republic of Korea (RoK).

The event was jointly held by the Thua Thien – Hue Tourism Department, VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company (VietJet Air), and SMC Hue Company Limited.

This marks the first flight carrying a total of 151 Korean passengers from Incheon International Airport to reach Terminal T2 of the Phu Bai International Airport.

The RoK delegation is expected to visit the ancient city of Hue for a total of four days and three nights to explore a number of popular destinations and products which are imbued with unique royal cultural heritage values.

Nguyen Van Phuc, director of Thua Thien – Hue Department of Tourism, emphasised that the first direct flight has given fresh impetus to the overall recovery of the Korean tourist market in the post-pandemic period.

Furthermore, the city plans to launch more charter flights from the RoK to Thua Thien – Hue, whilst continuing to maintain the Korean market in the top of the main international tourist markets to the locality moving forward.

Most notably, the event will contribute to attracting tourists, especially international tourists to return to Thua Thien – Hue, thereby stimulating demand and promoting tourism development in the province.

Meanwhile, a charter flight from Phu Bai International Airport to the RoK departed on the early morning of August 1, carrying with it a total of 228 passengers from Thua Thien – Hue province to the RoK

The delegation is expected to organise a forum on tourism in a bid to elevate Hue city’s cultural heritage in Seoul, while simultaneously working with a number of cultural and tourism partners in Seoul and Goechang cities.
