Vinh Long and Niigata expand cooperation into green economy and logistics

As part of their investment promotion trip to Japan, the Vinh Long provincial delegation, led by Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Tri Quang, paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Niigata province. Both sides agreed to further deepen cooperation in various fields, while expanding into green economy, logistics, processing industries, and sustainable development.

On June 24th, Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Vinh Long province, along with a delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the government of Niigata province, Japan, as part of an investment promotion program in the country.

The delegation was received by Mr. Hanazumi Hideyo, Governor of Niigata Prefecture, along with representatives from the Prefectural Assembly and local specialized agencies.

The cooperative relationship is becoming increasingly deep

In his welcoming remarks to the delegation, Governor Hanazumi Hideyo congratulated the newly formed Vinh Long province on the merger of three former provinces, and recalled his visit to Vinh Long in 2024 with many positive impressions.

According to the Governor of Niigata, based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in October 2023, the cooperative relationship between the two localities continues to be stable, achieving many positive results and becoming increasingly in-depth.

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Vinh Long province, Tran Tri Quang, expressed his pleasure at visiting Niigata and thanked the local authorities for the warm welcome extended to the delegation.

He stated that this trip is a continuation of the cooperation contents agreed upon by both sides in the previous memorandum of understanding, and also opens up many new opportunities for the local development in the future.

The Chairman of the People’s Committee of Vinh Long province expressed confidence that the friendship and cooperation between Vinh Long and Niigata will continue to develop strongly, contributing to further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Expanding cooperation into new areas

Leaders of the two localities highly appreciated the outstanding results of cooperation in the past period, especially in the field of high-tech agriculture, research and development of drought- and salt-tolerant rice varieties, emission reduction, and adaptation to climate change.

In addition, many programs promoting investment, connecting businesses, and cooperating in developing high-quality human resources have been effectively implemented.

In the field of education, the cooperation between Niigata University and Tra Vinh University continues to be promoted, contributing to strengthening academic exchange, scientific research, and human resource training.

Currently, the Vietnamese community in Niigata Prefecture, including many workers from Vinh Long, is living and working stably, becoming an important bridge in the cooperative relationship between the two localities.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to further deepen existing cooperation, while expanding into new areas such as green economy, logistics, processing industry, and sharing experiences in urban management and sustainable development.

On this occasion, Governor Hanazumi Hideyo extended an invitation to the Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee to visit Niigata Prefecture in the near future. Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee, Tran Tri Quang, expressed his sincere gratitude and stated that he would convey the invitation to the Provincial Party Secretary, and also extend an invitation to the Governor of Niigata to visit Vinh Long at a suitable time.
